Description
Qualifications and skills required
- Graduate and post-graduate degrees or equivalent in environmental management/science and/or business/management
- Knowledge of the project management cycle
- Team management and coordination skills
- Ability to understand academic and technical papers, as well as participate in discussions relating to seawater greenhouse technology, reverse osmosis, and salt/mineral extraction from seawater
- Ability to work with/within interdisciplinary and multicultural contexts
General professional experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management, design and implementation
- Experience of working in East Africa and/or the Horn of Africa
Specific professional experience
- Specific experience with seawater greenhouse technology would be considered an asset, but is not required
- Experience in the management of European research grants, and the practices and policies of Sida in particular, would be an asset.
- Experience in drafting research and project proposals and demonstrated success in securing grant funds
The role
- Oversee all aspects of project implementation, working in collaboration with the Somaliland-based Project Officer and on-site staff in Berbera
- Coordinate activities closely with Seawater Greenhouse Ltd UK (the key technical partner), PENHA’s UK office and PENHA-Somaliland
- Liaise with Consortium members and participate in Consortium discussions on technical and research-related matters
