PENHA, under its UK Youth Programme, continuing its support to the asylum seekers and refugees in Kent has secured almost 10K grant for its ‘Reducing Refugees Barriers in Kent’ project from the National Lottery. The project aims to provide intensive mentorship and career development for 500 young East African origin asylum seekers and refugees in Kent to widen their professional opportunities and access labour markets. Inspirational discussions and tailored career advice sessions can enable them to boost their confidence through a clear understanding of career paths, life skills, rights and obligations and other tips that shape their future.
The project will hold its first workshop at the Ashford College on November 12th 2019 and the young asylum seekers and refugees are expected to benefit from the support they get from the professional mentors. A further five workshops until July 2020 will be conducted in several colleges of Kent.
